Title Page Montage to "1979" / 1979westbrook.com. -- This in the wake with my seconds long interview at U.S. Secret Service in Portland on March 27th followed by the start of the Three Mile Island Nuclear disaster next day, March 28th and all hell breaking out back home in Covina with police raids and towns nearby.

Covina, my intended destination immediately after my scheduled arrival at LAX on Friday night March 30, 1979, where I sought refuge from then on going events at the Portland Hilton were I was employed until March 27th where I resigned only minutes after my interview at U.S. Secret Service.

This montage is one of my favorites as it is a rather striking and well thought out, post card like, tableau of bizarre and and deadly, circumstances and events plum 'gone nuclear' and was to divert and transfix the Nation's attention away from then recent events in Portland in March of 1979.

The incessantly repititous, non-stop, barrages reports of radiation releases and potential nuclear 'meltdowns' at the crippled nuclear reactor at Three Mile Isle PA on TV, radio and the print media lasted well until late April of 1979 and kept tens of millions of Americans focused clear across the continent 2300 miles away from the events at the Portland Hilton at some hitherto previously unheard of place called Three Mile Island, Pennsylvania, near Harrisburg and only about 90 miles away from the nation's capitol Washington D.C.

Parts 11 and 12 of "1979" / 1979westbrook.com describes the circumstances and events of my life during that time period from March 27th through the entire month of April 1979.

Part 2 Sub Pt 3 -- March 23, 1979, I manage to survive my scary ass 'Freaky Friday' at the Portland Hilton and catch the bus back to West Slope after work that afternoon. -- I sit smoking and thinking till evening when my Girl Kendra comes home for work. -- We chat for a while and I have her drive me into Portland to a State Liquor Store, the only place one can buy a bottle of whiskey to help calm my nerves and help clear my head from whatever drugs that I'm covertly being dosed with.

V.O. & 7's on a bench in the Rose Garden at Washington Park with Kendra as I cautiously quiz her about then recent events. Intruders suddenly come at us from two different directions and so it's a run to the car and our drive back to West Slope.

March 24th through March 25th 1979 at my apartment in West Slope, Oregon reviewing the circumstances and events in my life in Covina and L.A. from December 1970 when I first met the L.A. Cop who now turned up at the Portland Hilton in March '79, and who was my first Police Science Class instructor January through May 1971. -- I also decide to add up all those other bloody, bizarre and murderous events that took place in my life on through to August 30th 1974, my last day in Covina before my hitch-hiking trip to my new home in Northern Cal near the Oregon border.

Add text how unexpected meeting touched off events and thus prompted trip down the super highway of bad memories and horrors growing up in the 1960's in one of the smoggiest of L.A. suburbs, Covina, California.

July 1st 1971 through February 29th 1972. -- This starts with my work routine in Glendora and living in Azusa and the July 9, 1971 house party at the Helberg's rented house across from Covina Park where 'Spud' Helberg, his Girl Niki and I kept out party crashers led by an informant for the L.A. Sheriffs, by using 'Spud's bedroom furniture to barricade the door of his upstairs bedroom there.

The incident occurred just as I was telling 'Spud' about my then recent stint in L.A. County jail and Biscailuz Center and the Western Airlines purser and other assorted characters from late-March through April 13th 1971. -- This during the time when a Western Airlines Boeing 720 nose dived at nearby Ontario Airport killing 4 Senior pilots on March 31, 1971.

This prompted 'Spud' and I to get 'high' and party until the pre-dawn hours of July 10th along with his Girl Niki, when I left them there to return home to my place in Azusa.

The party crashers returned only minutes after I left and inflicted the sword wound on 'Spud's head that purportedly resulted in 'Spud's death after his re admittance to Covina Inter community Hospital in the days prior to his death on July 19th.

I believe 'Spud' was actually interrogated drugged, interrogated and murdered at Covina Inter community Hospital after his re admittance there by elements of the FBI and or U.S. intelligence.

Other notable events in my life at that time being Greg Downard's late July reappearance after two years in the Army, mescaline parties, my Summer '71 psychology class, my Fall '71 Criminal Law Class which was to prove indispensable in the years yet to come, this at the same time the bloody Attica prison riots and massacre took place. -- Having just pulled a 30 day stint in L.A. County and Biscailuz Center only 6 months before in March and April my sympathies were with inmates. -- I also felt Governor Rockefeller, a respected moderate was suckered into making some poor choices by his advisors with regard to Attica.

Greg's drug overdose at parent's place in Azusa resulted in partial credit for me and the girl I was about to fuck for saving his life. This was only until a savvy chick named Luana showed up with her pharmacy in her purse and directed us to throw Greg into a tub of ice water and kick start his breathing as Luana then dosed Greg with stimulants saving his life. -- She was a marvel to behold.

The appearance of Getty an FBI informant who entered my life at about the same time Greg reappeared. -- Some interesting current events during that time period being the 'copy cat' like mid-air between a F-86 military jet and ANA jetliner in Japan July 30th. -- This was much like the June 6th Marine Phantom jet mid-air over the Bradbury Hills 8 miles from my then home in Azusa only two months before on June 6th and was also of interest to me what with my Mother's relatives at the Nagasaki Nuclear weapons test site in August '45. -- Coming number 153 in the February '73 Draft Lottery kept me out of Vietnam and the military altogether and seemed all the more weird having had a small role in my Drama Class production of 'The Lottery' in March '68.

March 1st 1972 through August 31st 1972 kicked off with the bombing of a TWA jetliner at McCarran Field in Las Vegas on my 19th birthday March 8th followed by three hours of argument that same in a Covina attorney's office haggling over my trust fund with him and my Mother. -- Easter Weekend, March 3st through April 2nd at the Colorado River was a mix of freedom, music, drugs, fun, unexpected violence and anarchy. -- The cool thing was that there were no families or children there at the spot I was at on the river, only teens and young adults. -- I was actually dragged out the sunroof in my '60 T-Bird at one point by an angry crowd. Anarchy can be a very scary fucking thing.

In June '72 I bailed Greg out of the then 'Old County Jail' (Hall of Justice Jail) near City Hall where he was sent because his brother Benny, who wasn't really his brother was a L.A. Sheriffs Deputy, whereby Greg dressed in orange and kept in special custody. -- On the ride back in my Porsche back Greg, his Girl Lillian and I almost died when all the cars slammed on their brakes at the Brew 102 straights on Interstate 10, the smoke from the tires so thick you couldn't see. Miraculously a 50 car pile up was avoided.
Greg bailed me out of Glendora jail later that very night over an old traffic warrant I had.

In July was driving down Lark Ellen to my folks place in Covina when two motorcycles pass by me on the left, whereby a camper truck cut in front of a Triumph chopper and slammed on the brakes, causing the chopper to 'spill' on Lark Ellen near my folks house where I then parked and ran over to to help . -- I knew the passenger on the Triumph from Northview High who wasn't hurt unlike his brother who received relatively minor injuries.

Their friend on the Harley 'Hog' came back and dragged the cowardly driver the cowardly out of the camper pick-up's cab and gave him a seriously good beating in front of the driver's wife and son. -- I stood there cheering as this went on a while before my friend and I urged the avenger on the Harley to split before the cops came. -- I was arrested days later over this.

The May '72 assassination attempt on former Governor Wallace was followed a few weeks later by the incident in which I was coerced to trade some 'weed' I selling for a scoped sniper's pistol I did not want, from a guy who turned out to be an informant for the L.A. Sheriffs and FBI.

My 4th of July weekend to another part of the Colorado River there in my Porsche was laid back, except on the way back when Getty stalled my Porsche in front of CHP cruiser on a freeway onramp after putting some speed he just bought in the glove box.
I was swallowing the whole stash of speed as I handed the CHP officer my registration and he rubbed the back of my neck with his giant flashlight and asked me if I was the owner of the car. -- I took a big gulp and answered yes. -- I spent the next 12 hours back at my place in Duarte overlapping on speed as Getty nervously looked over me wondering if he had inadvertently killed me instead of setting me up for the CHP.

September 1st 1972 through Mid February 1973 covers a weird and deep dark period in my life in which at one point a guy who claimed he wa the nephew of Watergate figure Charles Colson and two of his associates moved into the house on Center St. in Covina where I lived, the Monday after Thanksgiving in November '72 during which time I contend that I drugged, dosed with Sodium Pentathol by Colson's pre-med associates and interrogated.

Colson and crew moved out the first week of December '72 only days before the United 737 crash near Midway Airport, on December 8th, sometimes referred to as the 'Watergate Plane Crash' as the wife of CIA-Watergate figure E. Howard Hunt, a U.S. Congressman, a CBS TV news reporter and other notables were amongst the 50 or so declared dead as a result of the crash.

Numerous reports of FBI agents and other police types in suits were seen all over the Chicago neighborhood crash site in the hour prior to the United 737's reported crashing there. -- The phony moon landing, America's last served as media diversion as well. -- The Eastern L-1011 crash in a swamp west of Miami in late December has it's own conspiratorial connections as well. -- Sales of this montage poster print will help enable me to post the sizable amount of text and research material I have compiled for Part 3 Sub Part 5 and intend to post there at 1979westbrook.com
